The SplitDay partner programme for family lawyers and mediators
SplitDay Team · Updated · Applications reviewed by hand
The SplitDay partner programme lets family lawyers, mediators and other professionals who work with separating parents recommend SplitDay — a shared custody calendar app — with their own referral code, link and QR code. Your clients get a welcome offer on SplitDay Pro; you get a partner area with anonymous, aggregate results and, unless you choose the client-benefit-only option, a referral commission under your partner agreement. We review every application by hand, starting with professionals in Israel.
Who it is for
The programme is for professionals who meet separating and separated parents in their work and want a neutral tool to point them to: family lawyers, family mediators, and therapists or counsellors who support families through a separation. We are starting in Israel; applications from other countries are welcome and are reviewed in turn.
You do not need to use SplitDay yourself, and joining costs nothing. We ask two things: recommend it only where a shared calendar would genuinely help a client, and tell clients about the partnership.
How it works
- Apply. Sign in to the partner area with a one-time link sent to your email, or with your Google account, and fill in a short form: your name, profession, country and, if you like, the code you would prefer.
- Get your code. Once your application is approved, your partner area shows your partner ID, your referral code and link (splitday.com/c/…), a QR code and a client handout you can print.
- Share it with clients. Give the link, the QR code or the handout to a client for whom a shared calendar would help. They open the link on their phone, or install SplitDay and enter your code in the app.
- Follow the results. Your partner area shows anonymous totals — clicks on your link, code entries, first payments, renewals and refunds — with your estimated commission. It never shows who the clients are.
What your client gets
SplitDay keeps the custody schedule, handovers, shared expenses and messages between co-parents in one neutral place, and it is free to start. When your client uses your code or link, they get a welcome offer on SplitDay Pro; the exact offer attached to your code is shown in your partner area and printed on your client handout.
Your client’s calendar, messages and expenses belong to them. Being referred by you changes nothing about their privacy: you never see their data, and we never tell you whether a particular client used your code.
What you get
- A partner area with your partner ID, referral code and link, a QR code, a printable client handout and a ready-to-paste message.
- Anonymous, aggregate results, updated daily, which you can download as a CSV file.
- A referral commission on the net revenue SplitDay receives from the clients you refer — what the app stores pay SplitDay after their fees and taxes — for a limited period after each client’s first payment, at the rate set out in your partner agreement. The exact terms are shown in your partner area once you are approved.
- Or, if you prefer, the client-benefit-only option: your clients get the same offer, and you receive no payment of any kind.
Disclosure and ethics
A recommendation from a lawyer or a mediator carries weight, so the programme is built to keep it honest.
- Disclose the relationship. Tell clients that you are a SplitDay partner. The client handout and the ready-made message already include a disclosure line.
- Recommend only where it serves the client. Never make SplitDay a condition of your services, and never present it as something a court requires.
- Check your professional rules. If the rules that govern your profession restrict referral fees, choose the client-benefit-only option.
- No access to client data. SplitDay never gives partners access to a client’s calendar, messages, expenses or any family information.
- Separate from the directory. The programme has no effect on our family-law directory: being a partner does not get you listed, and being listed does not make you a partner.
Privacy
- What we store about you: your sign-in email address, the details in your application (name, profession, country and, if you give them, firm, phone and website), your partner ID and codes, and the history of your account’s status.
- What you see about clients: aggregate numbers only. Monthly and per-code figures below 3 are shown as “<3”, so that no single client’s purchase or refund can be singled out.
- Sign-in: handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service that processes your sign-in on our behalf. The partner area sets no analytics cookies.
The privacy policy covers partner accounts too.
Frequently asked questions
Who can join the SplitDay partner programme?
Family lawyers, family mediators, and therapists or counsellors who work with separating parents. We are starting in Israel and review every application by hand; applications from other countries are welcome and are reviewed in turn.
What do my clients get?
A welcome offer on SplitDay Pro when they use your code or link. The exact offer for your code is shown in your partner area and on your client handout. SplitDay itself is free to start, with or without a code.
How does the referral commission work?
When a client you referred pays for SplitDay Pro, you earn a commission on the net revenue SplitDay receives from that payment, for a limited period after the client’s first payment. The rate and the period are set out in your partner agreement and shown in your partner area after approval. Refunds reverse the commission, and amounts stay estimates until they appear on your statement.
Can I take part without being paid?
Yes. Choose the client-benefit-only option when you apply. Your clients get the same offer, and you receive no payment of any kind. It suits professionals whose rules restrict referral fees, and anyone who prefers it.
What can I see about the clients I refer?
Only anonymous totals: clicks on your link, code entries, first payments, renewals, refunds and estimated commission, by month and by code. You never see names, email addresses or anything from a client’s calendar, and small monthly figures are shown as “<3”.
Does being a partner affect the family-law directory?
No. The directory lists practices that publish plain-language guides on shared custody, and no practice pays to appear in it. Being a partner does not get you listed, and being listed does not make you a partner.
How do I sign in?
With a one-time link sent to your email address, or with your Google account. There is no password to remember, and you can apply right after your first sign-in.
This page summarises the SplitDay partner programme; the programme terms and your partner agreement are what bind both sides. It is not legal or professional-conduct advice: before you accept a referral commission, check the rules that govern your profession.
For courts, lawyers and mediators
SplitDay gives both parents one calendar they can both see, a handover log where every entry carries the date and time it was made, and an export a professional can read in a minute. It is not a court filing service and we do not claim court approval anywhere. What we can promise is that the record is written as it happens, on the parent’s own device, and that every entry keeps the time it was created.
What a practitioner can use today
- A read-only view. A parent can invite you to their calendar as a helper with read-only access, at no cost, so you see the same month they see.
- The handover log, each entry timestamped when it is created, exported as CSV on the free plan and as a PDF on Pro.
- The expense record with receipts, exported as a PDF on Pro.
- Printable monthly calendars for the fridge, for families whose children need to see the plan.
Suggested wording for an agreement or order
Plain language, to adapt to local practice. We offer it as a convenience, not as legal advice.
The parties shall keep the parenting-time schedule in a shared calendar application (for example, SplitDay) to which both parties have access, shall record each exchange of the children in the application at the time it occurs, and shall rely on that record in the event of a dispute about the schedule.
For your clients
Free to start. Pro is one subscription that covers both homes; the invited co-parent views and messages at no cost and never needs a subscription. Clients referred through the partner programme receive a welcome offer, and the client-benefit-only option exists for professionals whose rules restrict referral fees.
Affordability
Clients of legal-aid organisations, and survivors of domestic abuse referred by an advocate or a shelter, can get SplitDay Pro free for 12 months on request. Write to support@splitday.com from the organisation’s address, or name the referring organisation.
