OurFamilyWizard Cost in 2026 and a Cheaper Alternative

OurFamilyWizard costs $110 to $299.88 per parent per year across four tiers — Basic $110, Essentials $149.99, Premium $216 and Max $299.88 — and it is billed per parent, so a two-parent household on Essentials pays $299.98 a year in total. There is no free tier. If what you actually need is a custody calendar rather than a documented-communication platform, SplitDay Pro is $44.99 a year and one subscription runs the shared calendar. What OurFamilyWizard costs, tier by tier

Four tiers, all billed annually, all priced per parent account. The prices below are the one-year totals shown on their pricing page.

Three things their pricing page states that are easy to miss: prepaying for two years lowers the rate (Essentials is $276 for two years rather than two lots of $149.99), there is a 30-day refund window, and accounts for children, third parties and professionals are free — it is the parent accounts that are billed. What OurFamilyWizard is built for

It is a documentation platform with a calendar attached, not a calendar with documentation attached. The features it puts front and centre on its own product pages are all about the message record:

• Message Board — messages cannot be edited or deleted once sent, and the system only reaches the other people on your family's account.
• ToneMeter and Writing Assistant — real-time feedback on the tone of a draft, with help rewriting it.
• Expense Log — shared expenses with receipt files attached and a payment history, with optional in-app payment through OFWpay.
• Info Bank — medical histories, insurance details, emergency contacts, school schedules and files in one place.
• Certified records from the Premium tier, and recorded, transcribed calls on Max.

Feature names read from OurFamilyWizard's own product pages on 6 September 2026. That set of tools is why family courts and attorneys sometimes name it directly. If an order or a judge has told you to use a particular platform, use that platform. No alternative — SplitDay included — substitutes for a court order, and cost is not a reason to ignore one.

When you don't need a records platform

Plenty of separated parents pay for tamper-evident messaging and then never use it, because the thing they open eleven times a week is the calendar. It is worth being honest with yourself about which situation you are in:

• You are amicable, or getting there. Messages are civil, nobody is denying what was agreed, and the recurring question is simply whose Thursday it is.
• You are parallel parenting. The strategy is less contact, not better-documented contact — see the parallel parenting guide and the parallel parenting plan.
• Only one of you will install anything. A subscription billed per parent is poor value when one parent will never open it.

Two honest caveats on that table. First, SplitDay does not do recorded calls, certified records or an information vault, and it never claims a court will accept its output — see what courts actually accept. Second, where a cell says "not described on the pages we checked", that means exactly that: we are reporting OurFamilyWizard's public pages as of 6 September 2026, not testing their product.

What the switch actually saves you

Per editing parent, SplitDay Pro at $44.99/yr is about 70% cheaper than OurFamilyWizard Essentials at $149.99 per parent per year (59% vs the $110 Basic tier). Because both products scale the same way when both parents edit, that figure holds for a two-editor household too: $89.98 against $299.98 a year.

There is one configuration where the gap is wider, and it only counts if you spell it out: one parent subscribes at $44.99 a year and the co-parent views the calendar and messages free — versus $299.98 a year for two OurFamilyWizard Essentials parent accounts at $149.99 each — which is about 85% cheaper. That is a comparison between two different household setups, not a like-for-like feature match, which is why it needs the whole sentence.

Switching without losing your history

Do this in order, and give yourself a week rather than an afternoon.

1. Get your records out first. OurFamilyWizard's pricing page does not document a general data export; "certified records" appear from the Premium tier. Ask their support what you can download, and do it while your subscription is still active.
2. Keep the message archive separately. If there is any chance of a modification or enforcement, the message history is the part you cannot rebuild.
3. Rebuild the pattern — it takes about five minutes. Pick the rotation, set the start date, and the calendar fills itself in for the next years. There is nothing to migrate, because the pattern is the data.
4. Add your holiday rules. Assigned holidays override the regular pattern.
